LCD vs Plasma TVs

The most popular choice when it comes to high definition televisions is by far the Full HD LCD TV. In the beginning of high definition television, LCDs were the cheaper inferior option when compared to the alternative of the more expensive plasma TVs.

However the technological advancements made by the television manufacturers coupled with the popularity of the LCD TVs, has closed the quality gap between the LCD and plasmas to the point that LCD are almost equal to plasmas but at a more competitive price.

The above point is especially true now with the recent introduction of the LED TV. Though the name might be a bit misleading, the LED TV is just an LED-lit LCD TV. The use of LEDs in LCD TVs has gone a long way to correct some of the inferiorities that LCD TVs have when compared to plasmas.

LED TVs are said enable the reproduction of more life-like colours and the individual control that LEDs have means that localized dimming is possible, this produces better contrast ratios, producing darker blacks. LCDs have improved so much over recent years that plasma TVs are slowly beginning to be phased out of the high definition TV market.
